Vegetable tanned leather uses natural tannins from tree bark and plants, producing a firmer, longer-lasting belt that ages beautifully. Chrome tanning uses chromium salts — it is faster and cheaper but produces a softer belt that does not develop patina and degrades faster over decades of wear. Fair Impex uses a semi-vegetable tanning process, avoiding toxic chromium chemicals entirely.

What Is Damascus Steel?

Damascus steel is forged by folding and welding multiple layers of high-carbon steel together, then acid-etching the blade to reveal the flowing, wave-like pattern unique to each knife. No two Damascus blades look the same. The layering process creates a blade with both high hardness and flexibility — hard layers hold a sharp edge; softer layers absorb shock and resist brittleness.
